Latest updated information about the Vietnam e-visa

E-visa is applied by the Vietnamese government from March 15, 2020 with a limited list of 80 countries and territories; it is single entry and allows to stay maximum of 30 days.

After more than 3 years of implementation and there are many outstanding advantages compared to visas on arrival. From August 15, 2023, the Government of Vietnam officially apply the e-visa policy to all countries and territories in the world, upgrading maximum stay period from 30 days to 90 days, with multiple entry visas instead of a single entry as before.

What is a Vietnam e-Visa?

An electronic visa (E-Visa) is a type of visa that allows foreign tourists to enter Vietnam for purposes of tourism, visiting relatives, commercial activities...

Vietnam first piloted an e-visa since 2017 with a limited list of 40 countries. By July 10, 2023, it had expanded to 80 countries.

A really huge change in e-visa policy applied from 15 Aug 2023 that allows visitors from all countries around the world may use e-visas when entering Vietnam, at the same time, maximum stay period from 30 days to 90 days.

Types of e-visa applied from 15 Aug 2023

One of biggest changes in the e-visa policy from 15 Aug 2023 is to increase stay period from 30 days to 90 days, with multiple entries also (During validity of e-visa, foreigners are allowed to enter and exit an unlimited number of times)

Simply, foreigners have 4 options as follows

• E-visa allows stay up to 30 days, single entry
• E-visa allows stay up to 30 days, multiple entry
• E-visa allows stay up to 90 days, single entry
• E-visa allows stay up to 90 days, multiple entry

Conditions for applying for an e-visa

If you are eligible for Vietnam e-visa, please refer to e-visa regulations:

• Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Vietnam and having at least 2 blank pages;

• 01 scanned photo of passport information page (see also: Vietnam visa photo regulations)

• 01 portrait photo (Clear, looking straight ahead, without glasses or hat..)

• Bank card for online e-visa valid payment (Only Visa or Credit cards are accepted)
