Overview

An electronic visa (E-Visa) is a type of visa that allows foreign tourists to enter Vietnam for purposes of tourism, visiting relatives, commercial activities...
Vietnam first piloted e-visa since 2017 with a limited list of 40 countries. By July 10, 2023, it was expanded to 80 countries.
A really huge change in e-visa policy applied from 15 Aug 2023 that allows visitors from all countries around the world may use e-visas when entering Vietnam, at the same time, maximum stay period from 30 days to 90 days.

Types of e-visa applied from 15 Aug 2023

One of biggest changes in e-visa policy from 15 Aug 2023 is to increase stay period from 30 days to 90 days, with multiple entry also (During validity of e-visa, foreigners are allowed to enter and exit an unlimited number of times)
Simply, foreigners have 4 options as follows

• E-visa allows stay up to 30 days, single entry
• E-visa allows stay up to 30 days, multiple entry
• E-visa allows stay up to 90 days, single entry
• E-visa allows stay up to 90 days, multiple entry

Conditions for applying for an e-visa

If you are eligible for Vietnam e-visa, please refer to e-visa regulations:

• Passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Vietnam and having at least 2 blank pages;
• 01 scanned photo of passport information page (see also: Vietnam visa photo regulations)
• 01 portrait photo (Clear, looking straight ahead, without glasses or hat..)
• Bank card for online e-visa valid payment (Only Visa or Credit cards are accepted)

E-visa application process

Important notes: Currently, application for Vietnam e-visa is no longer done on the e-Visa Page - Vietnam Immigration Portal but is applied on National Public Service Portal, depending on applicants as individuals or organization that guarantees foreigners, there will be two channels respectively:

• For organizations in Vietnam that guarantees foreigners. The application will be filed at https://dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn/bocongan/bututuc/tthc?matt= 26276
• For individuals, the application will be filed at: https://dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn/bocongan/bututuc/tthc?matt=26277

Steps to apply for an e-visa for foreigners include:

1. Visit following link for foreigners.
2. https://dichvucong.bocongan.gov.vn/bocongan/bututuc/tthc?matt=26277
3. Select SUBMIT APPLCATION to continue.
4. Then upload portrait and passport photo of foreigners, (and add email address if the applicants themselves submit the applications)
5. Fill in all information including:
6. Check the box to agree then select Agree and continue
7. Verify the accuracy of the information and then receive the verification code. Save that code somewhere easy to find because you'll need it later
8. Pay e-visa service fee (25USD / 50USD) through online platform.
9. Visit one of following links after a few days, in the search box, enter the required information to check the status of the applications 

10. Get the link to download and then enter the e-visa once your visa application is approved.
11. Present e-visa or verification code at international border gates to enter Vietnam.

Note: It is necessary to carefully check the information before submitting application. The declared information will not be changed after submitting.

Fees for applying for an e-visa to enter Vietnam:

• 25 US$/visa for single entry
• 50 US$/visa for multiple entry.

Note:
 

• Please double check and ensure accuracy of the information declared, This fee is non-refundable if your application is refused or there is any error on your visa which is provided in application form.
• International border gate stated on the visa cannot be changed. You cannot change that information either after submitting your electronic visa application or after your visa has been issued. If you want to change International border gate, you need to apply for a new visa.
• Normally you will receive your e-visa in about 3 working days, however, processing time may vary depending on the number of applicants or on public holidays. Therefore, you should submit your application at least 2 weeks before coming to Vietnam.
• You cannot apply for e-visa for groups. Each application is only applicable to one applicant only.
